Position Summary:
UCI MIND is an Organized Research Unit focusing on basic and clinical research in the fields of brain aging and cognitive disorders. Our mission is to discover means to improve the lives of people with Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia. UCI MIND is committed to community education with the goals of keeping the community informed of our progress, sharing learnings that can help community members reduce their risk for dementia.
Under the direct supervision of the senior scientists, the incumbent will be responsible for culturing cells, maintaining sterile technique, and the growth and differentiation of human pluripotent stem cells. She/he will be trained to work with mouse model (weaning, genotyping, perfusion and brain collection, IHC, etc.). Also she/he will be responsible for running flow cytometry and FACS sorting of mammalian cells.
Compensation Range:
$24.77/hr - $29.56/hr

Proven ability to function effectively as a team member, follow directions, work independently, or in shared assignment with others. Proven ability to adhere to departmental attendance policies and standards. Highly motivated and service-oriented with strong interpersonal and communication skills; able to communicate clearly and tactfully with a broad variety of people (clients, researchers, lab personnel, fellow employees), both verbally and in writing. Detail-oriented with demonstrated ability to maintain accurate and legible records to document progress and outcome of experiments, both hand-written and computer entry.
Preferred:
Experience with iPSC work and mouse handling
Special Conditions Required:
· Available to work occasional weekends, evenings and holidays as needed.
