Position Summary:
The Health Sciences Compensation Plan Manager provides high-level analytical support and counsel to the Sr. Associate Dean, Associate Deans, Assistant Deans, Director of Academic Affairs, Department Chairs and Department Administrators regarding the Health Sciences Compensation Plan policies, procedures as well as the management of the Outside Activity Tracking System (OATS). As a member of the Office of Academic Affairs, the incumbent will participate in development, analysis, and implementation of new policies related to the Health Sciences Compensation Plan and overall management of the OATS system for the faculty’s Outside Professional Activity to ensure compliance. Provides recommendations, alternatives, and solutions for various academic affairs issues as it relates to the Health Sciences Compensation Plan. Participate in a variety of special projects. Identify and implement enhancements to the OATS system and participates in the system-wide workgroup. Provide training as needed to department Chairs, Department Administrators, Faculty and AA staff. Applies professional UC Academic HR concepts, organization and / or system wide policies, and procedures to provide guidance to supervisors and managers to resolve a variety of academic human resources issues of moderate scope and complexity.

$80,600.00 - $121,700.00

Thorough knowledge of UC Health Sciences Compensation Plan and Outside Activity Tracking System (OATS) as well as the policies related to Outside Professional Activity and reporting. Basic knowledge of and ability to apply / interpret organization and college policies and procedures which govern academic HR. Knowledge of organization, college and departmental formal and informal policies and procedures and understanding of variances to stated policies. Analytical skills to conduct analysis and develop recommendations. Demonstrated organization, problem solving, and communication and writing skills.
Six (6) years of related experience, education/training, OR an Bachelor’s degree in related area plus two (2) years of related experience/training.
Demonstrated initiative, tact and planning skills. Ability to communicate effectively with diverse audiences. Requires advanced knowledge of and ability to apply / interpret systemwide, organization and college policies and procedures which govern academic HR.
Preferred:
Excellent critical and innovative thinking to address complex issues and present nuanced analyses. Advanced political acumen. Ability to analyze complex management issues, develop project scope and solutions, give professional advice to senior officials and make critical decisions regarding personnel. Advanced knowledge of organization and college goals, priorities and values and the legal and human implications of decisions. Thorough knowledge of trends in academia, especially in areas of academic planning, human resource management and administration. Advanced knowledge of systemwide and organization policies, union contracts, procedures and practices that govern academic HR administration.
Special Conditions Required:
Requires flexibility in work schedule to meet demanding and changing workload, in order to complete urgent and complex matters in a timely manner. Must be willing to work occasional overtime as needed for deadlines.
