Position Summary:
 
 
Under the supervision of the Surgical Skills Lab Manager, the Laboratory Associate is responsible for assisting in the facilitation of all research and laboratory events held within the Surgical Skills Lab. Will be involved in the routine procedures associated with educational and industry held courses/events involving use of human anatomical material and/or animal subjects. Assists in execution of all orthopedic surgery research projects in the lab and in human clinical research studies. Works with faculty, residents, fellows and Lab Manager in lab and animal research activities while assisting in the maintenance of accurate filing systems of research records for all animal protocols, cadaver program policies, and equipment forms. Routine support involving set up and cleanup of cadaver surgical training stations and live animal procedures for orthopedic surgery and other surgical specialties held within Surgical Skills Lab. Assist with human clinical research study data collection, database entry and filing of study research records.

$24.77- $26.98

Required:
 
Surgical Technician experience and/or Bachelor's degree in biology, chemistry, biochemistry, animal science, or other related Field, or equivalent combination of experience and education. • Available to occasionally work nights and weekends and minor holidays as needed for instructional events and have flexible work schedule. • Willing to travel to UC campus. • Available to work over 8 hours in a shift when involved in cadaver labs and animal research procedures.
Bachelor's degree in biology, chemistry, biochemistry, animal science, or other related Field, or equivalent combination of experience and education.
Strong computer skills to include Word, Excel and Outlook. Skill in establishing, organizing, and maintaining comprehensive record keeping. Ability to perform effectively under conditions of fluctuating workload and frequent interruptions, conflicting schedule. Willing to work with large and small animal handling and learn drug administration skills. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, verbally and in writing. Ability to work in a cadaver laboratory environment handling cadaver specimen.
