Position Summary:

Under the supervision of the Director or Personnel, uses professional HR concepts as a seasoned, experienced professional to apply organization policies and procedures to resolve the full range of HR-related issues in the School of Education. Manages and serves as a key resource for all aspects of staff personnel, non-senate academic personnel, and student employment for the School of Education; including recruitment, appointments, reappointments, and academic reviews. Responsible for ensuring compliance with a variety of campus, systemwide state, and federal policies and procedures as well as collective bargaining contracts and payroll transactions. Works on problems that are diverse and complex in scope, where analysis of situations require a review of a variety of factors. Normally receives little instruction on day-to-day assignments with some guidance provided on new projects.

Required:
 
Three to five years of experience in HR (staff and academic personnel).
Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
Demonstrated analytical, active listening, and critical thinking skills. Demonstrated ability to handle very difficult or volatile situations / individuals effectively. Thorough knowledge of human resources concepts, policies and procedures, employment practices, labor relations, salary administration, training and other areas of human resources. Demonstrated organizational skills and ability to prioritize assignments when faced with heavy workload, deadlines, and competing requests for service. Skilled in communicating clearly and effectively verbally and in writing. Possesses strong analytical skills to conduct analysis and develop recommendations, demonstrating organization and problem-solving skills. Thorough knowledge of organizational policies and procedures, knowledge of functional area and understands how work may affect other areas. Ability to work both independently and in a team-oriented structure with collaboration. Advanced skills in usage of Windows, Excel, Word, and Outlook. Experience working in an academic/university environment and interfacing with areas of UCPath, AP Review, AP Recruit, OATS, Human Resources Campus Onboarding, and Talent Acquisition Management (TAM).
 
Preferred:
 
Skill to serve as a mandatory reviewer of on-line academic, staff and student payroll and personnel actions Demonstrated knowledge of records management including the proven ability to develop and maintain a system to track and update a variety of information.
