Position Summary: 
The Chief Medical Information Officer (CMIO) will lead and be responsible for the planning and implementation of information systems used in the clinical environment and facilitate the development of the clinical enterprise. The CMIO is the tactical and strategic leader for clinical information systems that support the health and well-being of patients and advancement of clinical quality and safety initiatives. The CMIO is responsible for establishing the vision, future direction, and strategic use of clinical information systems for optimum health care delivery. The CMIO is a proponent of new and emerging health care technologies while understanding the impact on the organization, the physician citizens of the organization and the patient. The CMIO is active in the policy sector of healthcare by engaging with local, regional, and national issues affecting the delivery of care.
 
 
Salary Range: Commensurate to experience.
 
 
Required Qualifications:
 
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System
Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload
Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
Thorough understanding of the Epic EHR system.
Experience with information technology issues, both technical and cultural, in a clinical environment.
In-depth experience skills in organizing resources, establishing priorities, and project management.  Working knowledge and experience in applying lean principles.
Demonstrated strategic planning, advanced leadership, and communication skills.
Must possess the skill, knowledge and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned duties
Healthcare information technology experience providing medical leadership for clinical information systems and computerized physician order entry
Experience in providing strategic guidance and counsel in the assessment and development of existing and/or proposed systems.
MD from accredited university
Board certification in a primary specialty
Eligible to obtain an active medical practice license in the State of California
 
 
Preferred Qualifications:
Knowledge of University and medical center organizations, policies, procedures and forms
Formal training in informatics (Masters or Fellowship)
Clinical Informatics Board Certification
