Position Summary:
 
The UCI Health Compliance & Privacy Office administers the Research Compliance Program under the direction of the Chief Compliance Officer and Research Compliance Officer. The program furthers the commitment of UC Irvine Health and College of Health Sciences to advance the knowledge and practice of medicine through scholarly research, physician education and the provision of high-quality medical care to patients through a framework that fosters a culture of research integrity and compliance with federal, state, sponsor, university and Joint Commission standards. The UCI Health Compliance & Privacy Office is responsible for the organizational integration of the Research Compliance Program through collaboration with leaders across the research community including, but not limited to, the Office of Research, Environmental Health & Safety, UC Irvine Health and College of Health Sciences. The office works to ensure that policies, procedures, programs and educational activities are developed to satisfy federal, state and institutional regulations governing the conduct of research.
 
Under the general direction of the Research Compliance Officer, supports the development and implementation of healthcare regulatory compliance controls and programs related to use of health data and clinical research. Works directly with the Research Compliance Officer to develop and implement standards, procedures and governance framework related to use of health data and clinical research. Raises and maintains healthcare regulatory compliance awareness within departments, identifies and addresses risk areas, supports a proactive approach toward resolving potential regulatory compliance issues, and refers issues to the Research Compliance Officer. Independently develops educational materials, conducts regulatory auditing and monitoring activities, and assists other areas of the compliance unit to enhance healthcare regulatory outcomes. Applies skills and experience as a seasoned regulatory healthcare compliance specialist to projects of medium size at all levels of complexity, or to portions of large projects. Specializes in clinical research and healthcare regulatory requirements. Regularly works on complex research compliance issues where analysis requires an in-depth knowledge and evaluation of variable factors.
 
Compensation Range:
 
$78,900.00 - $112,000.00

Required:
 
5-7 years of relevant job clinical research or healthcare experience.
Bachelor's degree in clinical or related area, and / or equivalent combination of experience / training.
Strong skills in written and verbal communications, with the ability to convey complex technical information, education, and instructions in a clear and concise manner, and to produce high-quality reports, documentation, and presentations. Strong project management skills and the ability to effectively manage time, organize competing priorities, address complex issues as they arise, and see projects through to completion on schedule. Thorough knowledge of the methods, tools, and practices involved with regulatory compliance. Strong interpersonal skills for collaborating effectively with managers and staff at all levels and across the organization, and with representatives of external regulatory agencies.
 
Preferred:
 
Certification in Healthcare Research Compliance (CHRC) Certification in Healthcare Privacy Compliance (CHPC) Certification in Healthcare Compliance (CHC)
Knowledge and understanding of compliance and regulatory standards across the healthcare industry or thorough knowledge within a specialty area.

Reliable transportation to UC Irvine research sites in Orange County.
