Position Summary: 
Reporting to the EH&S Specialist 5, the incumbent implements, and monitors radiation safety programs and policies to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local radiation regulations, and ensures a safe workplace. Assists with development and implementation of operational radiation safety programs, including radioactive therapy suite set-up, decontamination, surveys and monitoring, and radioactive waste management.

Salary Range: 
 
Hourly Rate  Minimum   $30.84            Midpoint       $42.77            Maximum $54.69
 
Required Qualifications:
  
Must be available for on-call assignments or alternate work schedules including nights and weekends
Good written, verbal, and interpersonal skills to communicate effectively in a diverse environment.
Working skills in the appropriate use of technology and relevant scientific equipment as required.
Valid State of California Driver's License and satisfactory driving record.
Employment contingent upon completion of satisfactory background investigation.  Position is subject to the California DMV's "Pull Notice System" and continued employment is contingent upon proof of a satisfactory driving record.
Able to qualify for HAZWOPER certification
Skill in following basic instructions and providing input and feedback as required.
Bachelor's degree in physics, health physics, medical physics, chemistry, math, or biology or related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
Good presentation skills.
Solid, comprehensive working knowledge / understanding of radiation safety including related laws and regulations.
On-site time at least 90%.
 
 
Preferred Qualifications:
Able to qualify for DOT shipping certification
