Position Summary:
The Business Office in the School of Social Sciences at UC Irvine seeks an experienced, analytical and technical self-starter to provide financial support and administrative management in support of the School’s school-wide support offices, academic and instructional programs, student support, and research centers. As a member of the School of Social Sciences, the incumbent is tasked with upholding and exemplifying excellence in the University’s core competencies-- job mastery, goal accomplishment, enterprise contribution, and innovation-- while representing the Dean and School to the campus. The incumbent is independently responsible for the financial management of assigned complex academic, instructional, and operational accounts within the School of Social Sciences. As part of the School's Financial Management Team, the incumbent has independent decision-making authority, policy analysis and interpretation and independent problem-solving responsibilities that requires on-going interaction with all levels of university faculty and staff. Incumbent is responsible for providing specific direction to assigned faculty and staff to assure compliance to university policy. Works closely with the Director of Finance on strategies to achieve school’s financial goals and objectives for budget planning and allocation processing, managing financial resources. Prepares complex and comprehensive financial analyses to the leadership related to student support, block funds, fee remission, etc. Assists with KBM, budget allocation, and fiscal closing activities. Performs other duties as assigned. This requires knowledge of: university policies and procedures, material management to include purchasing and equipment acquisition principles; personnel/payroll policies and procedures. This position is eligible for hybrid/remote work.

$90,000.00 - $105,000.00 (Annual Salary) Expected Pay Range with the Full Salary Range $87,200.00 - $163,600.00 (Annual Salary)

Minimum of 5 years of experience in administrative analysis or an equivalent combination of education and experience in using PI reports, Kuali Financial Systems transactions, and knowledge of general accounting procedures
Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
Advanced knowledge of finance policies, practices, and systems. Ability to identify, collect, and analyze information from multiple sources. Proven ability to effectively present complex information verbally and in writing in a clear and concise manner. Proven ability using spreadsheet and database software such for complex financial analysis, fiscal management, and financial reports. Proven interpersonal skills to maintain effective working relationships with peers and leadership organization; strong service orientation and critical thinking skills; and attention to detail. Proven ability using organizational skills to multitask in a high-volume environment. Ability to adapt to changing priorities. Thorough knowledge and understanding of internal control practices and their impact on protecting University resources. Demonstrated skills in financial analysis, planning and administration with complex multi-million dollar budgets that fluctuate from month to month. This includes audit planning and preparation, rate analysis, and cost/benefit analysis Experience training peers on policies, practices, and systems Experience managing permanent budget allocations, including FTE, salary, benefit, and general allocations Ability to function as a member of a professional team and ability to handle all Business & Finance Office matters with tact, discretion, and confidentiality. Experience working with the UCPath system Experience managing graduate student funding allocation and expenditures.
