Position Summary:
 
The Institute for Clinical and Translational Science is a special project department housed under the Office of Research on the UCI Campus. The UCI CTSA is one of 50+ NIH-NCATS funded institutes in the US. The ICTS Mission is to improve health and healthcare by catalyzing translational research across the spectrum and by advancing the science of translation. The cohesive theme of ICTS is to build, track, implement, and evaluate sustainable programs that advance innovation, quality, efficiency, and value of translational science across the broad spectrum of clinical research. The ICTS functions as a local centerpiece for the national program, and we are dedicated to advancing scientific discovery and medical breakthroughs. Collectively, our goal is simple: to accelerate these discoveries from the lab and translate them into life-altering medical care. The Education Unit within the ICTS is tasked with managing all training and educational opportunities, workforce development activities, managing pre-doctoral, post-doctoral, and junior faculty research activities through NIH-funded awards, managing the Medical Student Research Program and associated NIH-funded awards, and all other tasks dedicated to the training and education of clinical and translational research at UCI. The Community Engagement Unit (CEU) facilitates community-engaged translational science research between academic and community-based researchers, provides funding for collaborating researchers through seed grant awards, provides quarterly speaker series’ to facilitate the community health research exchange, and promotes new partnerships to improve health in Southern California.
 
Uses advanced operational concepts and objectives to resolve highly complex issues. Regularly works on complex research issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors. Exercises judgment in selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results. Primarily deals with translational science research (bench to bedside) programs and projects with a special focus on the science of translation itself. Develops and oversees the implementation of new research programs and processes. Uses an array of sophisticated quality by design (QbD) and other process improvement modalities to advance translational science research by working with investigators to design and implement stronger research projects by utilizing these concepts. Works with faculty by providing expertise in recruitment and retention as well working with other subject matter experts to provide feedback and direction to increase the strength of the research project.. In addition, assist faculty with other resources available through the ICTS and the University. Requires extensive experience and autonomy in decision-making and project development to work with investigators and research coordinators on developiong recruitment plans across the campus to help bridge the gap with researchers and the community. Autonomously provides summary reports and feedback to faculty across Campus and Health Sciences as well as at our partner organizations (ie. CHOC, and the VA, etc) pertaining to their research study.

$78,900.00 - $145,100.00 (annual)
 
Required:
 
5-10 years of experience
Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
Certification in Clinical Research
Advanced knowledge of common organizational- or research-specific and other computer application programs. Strong communication and interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with all levels of staff and influence, both verbally and in writing. Ability to use discretion and maintain all confidentiality. Advanced project management skills. Thorough knowledge of organizational or initiative processes, protocols and procedures. Ability to multi-task with demanding timeframes. Advanced knowledge of applicable policy analysis techniques. Advanced analytical / problem-solving skills. Ability to develop and review study plans with a high degree of autonomy. Ability to create and maintain key relationships that lead to opportunities for the development of new research projects.
