Position Summary:
Founded in 2020, the UC Irvine School of Pharmacy & Pharmaceutical Sciences is the first public pharmacy school in the Los Angeles-Orange County region and offers undergraduate, graduate, and professional degrees. As part of the Susan & Henry Samueli College of Health Sciences, we actively collaborate with schools and programs in medicine, nursing, and population, public health, and the Susan Samueli Integrative Health Institute to educate, train, and mentor the next generation of pharmaceutical scientists and clinical pharmacists. The incumbent contributes to the success of the School of Pharmacy & Pharmaceutical Sciences by crafting compelling and engaging written content that shares our story, supports our brand, and promotes our faculty, students, research, and programs. Writes a variety of comprehensive material, including blog articles, narratives, stories, and scripts, as well as marketing copy for our website and e-newsletter. Researches, selects sources, and conducts interviews to develop content and distill studies, research, and news into language that’s informative, engaging, and aligned with our voice. Delivers quality writing content that appeals to our audiences, attracts donors, bolsters recruitment, and boosts brand awareness. Organizes an editorial calendar to complete drafts of content and finished projects within deadlines.

$25.57 - $45.02 (Hourly Rate)
Required:
5 or more years of copywriting experience
Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
Demonstrated excellence in writing and editing skills Ability to work independently and adhere to deadlines Excellent time management skills Knowledge of SEO rules and principles Solid communication and interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with all levels of staff and faculty verbally and in writing. Solid organizational skills and ability to multi-task with demanding timeframes. Thorough knowledge of the fundamentals of writing, grammar, syntax, style, and punctuation. Thorough knowledge of appropriate editorial style and publication guidelines. Thorough skills to write clear, lively, engaging and compelling copy in a variety of styles appropriate to target audiences and / or the broader public, while ensuring adherence to the location's message. Thorough analytical and critical thinking skills. Thorough attention to detail, project management and organizational skills.
Preferred:
Hands on experience with WordPress Experience with Asana, MailChimp, Microsoft Tools, Google applications, social media Working knowledge of common organization-specific and other computer application programs. Previous experience in a university/higher education setting or healthcare industry
Special Conditions Required:
Occasional evening and/or weekend work may be required.
