Position Summary: 

Performs non-repetitive, technically complex procedures or tests in a specialized area of the lab in order to provide data for use in the detection, diagnosis and treatment of disease.  Acts as the division team leader for lab information system and works as an effective member of the laboratory information systems build and Epic integration team. Leads and performs middleware and lab information system logic build and integration. Serves as the division liaison between Epic Project managers and laboratory subject matter experts such as Clinical Lab Supervisors and Managers. Works with LIS personnel to validate interfaces and create and update division test codes for main lab and satellite labs. Leads live track training with technical staff and responsible for pre and post go-live Assesses training needs based on strategic plan and acts as liaison with internal and external customers to identify, analyze develop, design, prioritize and implement new workflow solutions. Utilize critical thinking skills to troubleshoot issues and to evaluate statistical data, workflow efficiency and system optimization; initiates inquiries to prevent amplification of problems; promptly follows through on issues that may negatively impact patient care and operations.

Maintains expertise and provides technical consultation for assigned methods. Assist with ensuring timely completion of preventive maintenance and prepared monthly reports for assigned methods. Prepares monthly statistical reports of turnaround times. Performs ad hoc calibration and timely semi-annual calibration verification and linearity assessments (as applicable) for assigned methods reporting identical analytes in the hematology division and satellite lab locations. Assist in procedural reviews as needed. Participates in teaching and serves as a technical resource for the division.

Salary Range: 

Hourly Rate  Minimum   $55.43              Midpoint     $64.27             Maximum    $73.11

Required Qualifications:

Must have experience in middleware (MW). Creation and validation of MW rule designs, its management and updates to workflows that interact with rules.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System

Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload

Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job

Must be willing to testify in court regarding testing activities if subpoenaed

Must be willing to work variable shifts and overtime as required

Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English

Two or more years applicable experience

Current CA CLS License

Must possess the skill, knowledge and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned duties

Knowledge of University and medical center organizations, policies, procedures and forms

Licenses and Certifications:

Clinical Laboratory Scientist(Required)

Preferred Qualifications:

Preferred to have lab information system build and integration

Preferred with Epic Beaker experience.
