Position Summary:
The mission for the Center for Autism & Neurodevelopmental Disorders (CAND) at UCI is to provide help and hope to individuals with ASD, ADHD and other neurodevelopmental disorders and their families through excellent clinical services, education & training, research and community engagement. The Authorization Coordinator will work amongst a team of professionals including psychologists, medical professionals, behavioral consultants, educational consultants, speech-language pathologists, social workers, and a variety of faculty, staff as well as with graduate students, residents, and pre-and post-doctoral fellows.
The position of the Authorization Coordinator will work under the general supervision of the CAND Clinic Operations Manager to support the overall objectives of CAND. This incumbent will perform authorization and referral duties such as obtaining payment, physician referrals, and obtaining funding sources. Will act as a liaison with parents and explain their financial responsibilities and ensures necessary documents are obtained and completed. Complete authorizations and forward information to payments in a timely manner. Additionally, will perform front desk and registration duties, such as obtain patient demographic and insurance information, checking patient in for appointments, and answering a multi-line phone system. Assist with additional duties as needed.

$24.66 - $30.65 (Hourly Rate)
Required:
• Bilingual in Spanish and English (spoken, receptive, and written) • Experience working in a pediatric clinical environment • Experience working with individuals with neurodevelopmental disorders and/or their families • Strong customer service skills • Knowledge of various insurance programs to include third party payers, HMOOs, PPOs, government sponsored programs, and CalOptima plans • Experience with EPIC registration/scheduling/authorization • Experience with CPT and ICD9 codes, and pediatric medical terminology • Demonstrates positive and effective communication skills, including excellent oral and written communication skills • Strong organizational skills • Ability to negotiate multilayered regulatory systems, and manage competing priorities, and if unable to do so, seek guidance from supervisor in a timely manner • An approach to working with colleagues that enhances collaboration and team building • Ability to work well in a constantly changing environment
Preferred:
• Experience handling high volume of calls
Special Conditions Required:
May occasionally need to represent CAND during virtual events or when in-person community activities are reestablished, such as Clinic in the Park and Autism Speaks community booths.
