Position Summary:
This position oversees UCI Health revenue integrity operations and manages Revenue Integrity staff as direct reports in a multi-site and multispecialty academic medical center. The incumbent is responsible for all revenue management activities, ensuring we promote integrity and stability in our revenue operations, while leading initiatives to achieve revenue optimization and automated charge capture that is reliable and adheres to all billing and compliance guidelines. The incumbent will develop policies and procedures to maximize the effectiveness of charge capture within the revenue cycle. This includes validating system and manual charging where required and addressing complex billing decision making to ensure appropriate billing and reimbursement requirements are met. Develops and implements controls, ensuring charging is accurate and appropriate and stays abreast of emerging issues and risks and plans accordingly. Manages comprehensive financial audits of all systems and ensures charging related to interfaces is correct. Ensures the highest level of accuracy, integration and functionality in all charge generating applications across the institution, in accordance with governmental and third-party regulations. Provides direction and interprets revenue cycle key performance indicators with significant institutional impact and identifies strategies that lead to improved financial performance and follow through on their implementation.

Salary Range:
Annual Rate Minimum $111,200.00 Midpoint $163,100.00 Maximum $215,000.00
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, and / or equivalent experience / training
Minimum 7 years in a leadership/managerial position in a revenue integrity role within an academic medical center
Proven leadership and managerial skills with the ability to create and maintain a goal-oriented climate of teamwork and cooperation across departments for effective problem solving, conflict resolution, support for organizational values and performance evaluations and disciplinary actions.
Strong knowledge of healthcare revenue cycle operations, concepts and policies and their impact throughout the organization, with an in-depth understanding of related functions and issues including coding, registration, billing, reimbursements, aging accounts, contractual adjustments, and charge capture; experience with both facility and physician provider charging and coding
CPC, CPC-H, CPMA and/or Revenue Cycle Coding Certification
Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload.
Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
Ability to implement and evaluate automated processes and flows as they relate to hospital charges.
Ability to effectively work with all levels of health system personnel including directors and physicians.
Ability to read, correctly interpret, and implement process and procedures in accordance with governmental and commercial payor regulations.
Experience in technical report writing, complex analyses and data conversion into different formats.
Extensive knowledge of automated patient accounting functions, payer reimbursement as it relates to charges, third party billing requirements, and split claim billing.
Extensive knowledge of correct coding principles of CPT/HCPC, modifiers, revenue codes, DRG and APCS
Knowledge of HIPAA
Must possess the skill, knowledge and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned duties.
Preferred Qualifications:
Epic Certified in Hospital Resolute
Basic understanding of Lean/Kaizen methodologies
Strong knowledge of all relevant information technology, including Epic Slicer Dicer, SQL and Clarity
Working knowledge of academic healthcare center policies and procedures related to revenue cycles.
Experience/Working knowledge of revenue cycle processes in an integrated multi-system environment
