Position Summary: 

Incumbent is responsible for administration, development, and staffing of assigned department. Coordinates and schedules staff, directs and evaluates the daily workflow to ensure timely and customer-focused service to patients. In conjunction with manager, responsible for interviewing, hiring, disciplinary action and termination according to UCI policies and procedures. Trains, orients, and provides in-service for staff. Monitors and directs the collection of productivity and other statistical information. Responsible for coordinating payroll, computer training, quality assurance and human resources issues for staff. Provides oversight for authorization and surgery scheduling and is able to provide additional help as needed. May fill in and work in a staff position as requested or needed.

Salary Range: 


Hourly Rate  Minimum   $29.26                   Midpoint   $40.28                   Maximum $51.29


Required Qualifications:

Excellent organizational and planning skills and ability to manage multiple activities and varied deadlines

Knowledge of UC and medical center organizations, policies & procedures

Demonstrated knowledge of medical terminology

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System

Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload

Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job

Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English

Demonstrated leadership skills to supervise, motivate and develop staff

Previous experience working with EPIC EHR

Minimum 5 years surgical scheduling experience

Must possess the skill, knowledge and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned duties

Demonstrated experience and thorough working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and database applications

Demonstrated organizational and project management skills


Preferred Qualifications: 

Working knowledge of SPM system

Understanding of multiple insurance payor types, authorization processes, and registration requirements

Working knowledge of OpTime
