Position Summary:

Leading in a digitally driven world takes agility and savvy. The UCI Paul Merage School of Business’ approach prepares students to adapt to the ever-changing business environment and face head-on the challenges brought on by disruption. To lead in the disruption of today and tomorrow, we need to understand these technologies and master their strategic implications. We accomplish this by using cutting-edge approaches and technologies through digital courses and program delivery. Our digital learning department spends dedicated time with faculty to develop digital courses that optimize student learning. With our Flex MBA classes and BA undergraduate online offerings, we are changing how our students take digital courses. Our digital learning team focuses on three overarching course design goals: creating synergies for minimizing transactional distance, incorporating diverse and inclusive opportunities for learning connections and designing active digital learning experiences. Digital learning at the Merage School is more than a convenience; it’s an experience. Just as the production of goods and services is changing in business, so are we capitalizing on new technologies to build community, provide access, and create world-class learning experiences. By reconceptualizing the path by which students learn, we are doing our part to build flexibility and access in education, bolstering the American Dream.

The Digital Learning Architect works with various faculty and staff to assess and advise on digital learning needs, challenges, goals, and recommends and supports appropriate digital learning interventions, such as instructional approaches, technologies, or platforms. Delivers informed consultation and guidance on digital learning strategies, innovations, solutions, and best practices. In partnership with faculty and/or staff, the incumbent will work on various projects that support the creation of innovative, high-impact learning experiences and custom solutions for students and programs. The Digital Learning Architect is involved with planning, managing, and evaluating custom digital learning solutions and provides training, coaching, or mentoring to digital learning staff and other academic teams when applying and testing innovative instructional approaches in preparation for broader integration. The incumbent has experience and comprehensive knowledge of digital learning trends, learning innovations, and standards and is eager to explore, research, and test new learning novelties and technologies to inform recommendations for experimentation and application at scale (i.e., extended and virtual reality, gamification, gen AI, etc.). The Digital Learning Architect will also be the primary manager of the Merage School's virtual classroom studio learning spaces. Will partner, advise, and assist faculty in effectively using web conferencing software (i.e., Zoom) and hardware to support stellar learning experiences delivered synchronously. This includes but is not limited to designing and consulting on the classroom's continuous pedagogical and technical configuration to meet school needs, ensuring the virtual classroom studio runs effectively for instructional purposes, and providing hands-on support for faculty in successfully delivering live virtual classes. The incumbent will collaborate on the optimal design and refinements of virtual classrooms that promote pedagogically sound synchronous virtual instruction.
