Position Summary:
The UCI Counseling Center is committed to delivering quality services that help students achieve optimal mental health for academic success, personal growth, and increased capacity to cope with the stresses of being a university student. The Counseling Center also provides training and learning opportunities to prepare future leaders in mental health and other service-oriented positions. The emphasis of this position is on case management services to students as a clinical social worker. Conduct case management visits and provide consultation to clinical staff. Additionally, conduct initial assessments, urgent care services; crisis response; and outreach in a university counseling center. Provide training within an American Psychological association (APA) accredited psychology doctoral internship. Participate in meetings and Center research and evaluation.

Required:
- Documentation or attestation of the provision of social work services for at least ten (10) outpatients or inpatients during the past three (3) years required for initial hire.
- Advanced degree from an accredited institution in Social Work.
- Licensed as a Clinical Social Worker (or license-eligible in California).
- License issued by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences or must be licensed as a Clinical Social Worker in another US state or territory, or equivalent jurisdiction, if not in possession of a current CA license by start date.
- Maintain current and unrestricted California social work license (Provide documentation to Counseling Center).
- Fulfill or exceed continuing professional education requirements to maintain licensure and stay current with the field of social work.
- Knowledge of Federal and California laws governing the practice of social work and privacy practices in post-secondary educational institutions.
- Ability to work with a broad variety of difficult cases and display effective knowledge of the social work profession.
- Must be able to demonstrate respect and integrate cultural sensitivity when providing services.
- Experience and interest in working with university students from multicultural backgrounds.
- Experience with electronic medical record keeping and documentation.
- Ability to collaborate with the campus community consisting of faculty, staff, and students.
- Skilled in coordinating, directing, evaluating, and implementing case management services for individuals with multiple psychological problems.
- Demonstrated skills in crisis management under conditions of limited supervision, high demands, and rapidly changing circumstances as well as developing and maintaining effective interaction with clients, university community, and outside agencies.
- Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Skilled in effectively conveying information to individuals at various organizational levels.
- Ability to compose clear, grammatically correct, well-constructed correspondence, reports, and informational materials.
Preferred:
- Knowledge of available resources of the broader Orange County and Southern California area that can assist our students and campus population in meeting their psychosocial needs.
- Consultation and outreach experience, program development and evaluation including training faculty, staff and students.
- Training and experience in time limited psychotherapy, crisis response, substance/alcohol problems.
- Five post-licensure years of clinical practice.
- Experience in a large university counseling center. Interest in the application and integration of social justice in counseling center work.
Special Conditions Required:
- This position's schedule is generally M-F during traditional work hours.
- However, weekends or non-traditional work hours may be required for special projects, at busy times of the year, or when strict deadlines must be met.
- Hybrid work options may be available depending on operational needs of the center.
