Position Summary:

The Division of Finance and Administration (DFA) provides services and support to over 50,000 students, faculty, and staff with the mission of advancing UCI’s brilliant future and the vision of becoming world-class campus partners. DFA serves the university as planning partners, problem solvers, and solution providers—striving to make it as easy as possible for people to get the services they need, when they need them. The Support Services department of the Division of Finance and Administration works to create greater efficiency and potential cost savings to the division while implementing process improvements and consolidation of resources across the functional areas of Human Resources, Emergency Management, and Business Services.

Uses professional enterprise risk management concepts. Applies organizational policies and procedures to resolve a variety of moderately complicated issues. Main focus of position is that the Emergency Operations Centers function and Zone Crew programs for the campus. Works on casualty, property, employee injury, and loss prevention programs and services where analysis of situations or data requires a review of a variety of factors.

$23.58 - $27.78

Required:

3 years in a related field or combination of education and experience.

Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training

Must have or acquire within 6 months of appointment CERT instructor certification. Must have or acquire within 6 months of appointment Homeland Security Exercise Evaluation Program (HSEEP) certification.

Working knowledge in the following areas: risk management; insurance; emergency management, forecasting and analysis; accounting; knowledge of common organization-specific computer application programs; knowledge of organization processes and procedures; understanding of organization rules and regulations. Proficient interpersonal skills, customer service orientation, active listening skills, and organizational skills. Demonstrated ability to concisely present complex risk findings and make recommendations verbally and in writing. Demonstrated ability to use critical thinking and analytical skills to solve problems. Demonstrated communication skills, both oral and written, to effectively participate in individual, small and large group settings, and to be persuasive in difficult situations that may require organization or individual change or compliance with policy and law Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office programs (spreadsheet, word processing, presentations, database) and extensive experience utilizing PowerPoint. Strong ability to multitask, organize and manage assigned projects, conduct research, prepare written reports and make oral presentations. Must maintain good attendance. Completion of FEMA Independent Study course IS-100.c Introduction to the Incident Command System, IS-200.c Basic Incident Command System for Initial Response, IS-700.b Introduction to the National Incident Management System, and IS-800.c National Incident Response Framework, an Introduction. Skill in organizing work and setting priorities in order to complete work in a timely manner and meet deadlines Strong attention to detail with the ability to troubleshoot and pursue problems to satisfactory resolution.

Preferred:

Certificate of completion of FEMA Professional Development Series, independent study courses

Special Conditions Required:

Must be willing to attend training both locally and out-of-state • Must be available to work early mornings, evenings, and/or weekends as necessary and respond in the event of an emergency • Must have a valid CA driver’s license and participate in the DMV pull-notice program. Must be able to wear PPE if necessary.
