Position Summary:
 
Incumbent is responsible for the preparation, submission, financial and administrative management of pre- and post-awards for major federal and private contracts and grants, as well as other extramural funds that support various research and instructional programs within the School of Nursing. Provides policy analysis and interpretation and independent problem-solving responsibilities that requires on-going interaction with all levels of university and agency personnel. Responsible for providing specific direction to faculty and staff to assure compliance with contract and grant agency and campus guidelines.
 
Compensation Range:
 
Annually: $59,000.00 - $86,700.00

Required:
 
Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training.
B.A or B.S. degree in Finance, or 5-7 years equivalent experience, preferable in higher education. Demonstrated skill in financial analysis, planning, and administration with complex multi-million-dollar budgets from multiple agencies.
This includes audit planning and preparation, rate analysis, cost/benefit analysis, and research program fund administration.
Experience in grant proposal submissions to various funding agencies, including but not limited to Federal, State, and private agencies.
Demonstrated understanding and application of various audit concepts and principles.
Ability to understand the requirements of an audit and to impart accurate information to an auditor. Demonstrated ability to work independently in financial analysis and problem resolution and in following through on assignments with minimal direction.
Demonstrated ability to work in an evolving and flexible environment.
Knowledge of various agency specific contracts and grants policies.
Demonstrated skill in contract and grant budget preparation, analysis, and projection.
This includes cost and revenue analysis, projecting income and expense trends, preparing income and expense statements, and preparing financial projections.
Demonstrated skill in analyzing information, problems, situations, and procedures to define the problem or objective; identify relevant factors, concerns, patterns, or tendencies; recognize alternatives and their implications; formulate objectives and conclusions.
Proficient writing skills to prepare factual memos and analytical reports.
Ability to calculate statistical information and format into management reports.
Knowledge of microcomputers including software such as Microsoft Excel and Word.
Experience working as part of a professional team and in maintaining confidentiality.
Demonstrated ability to effectively engage and communicate across a diverse constituency, and to apply interpersonal skills to negotiate individual expectations.
Strong organizational skills, an ability to prioritize multiple tasks with competing deadlines, and an ability to demonstrate attention to details.
 
Preferred:
 
Working knowledge of federal, state and University regulations relating to contracts and grants administration under Uniform Guidance.
Working knowledge of UC Policies and Procedures as they relate to finance, contracts and grants, sales, and service activities, purchasing and equipment acquisition and material management, gift administration, applicable personnel and payroll policies and procedures, recharge principles; research subcontracting concepts; and indirect cost principles.
Familiarity with the Kuali Financial and Kuali Coeus System(s).
