Position Summary:
 
Under direct supervision of the Director of the Brain Donor Program screens for research tissue, takes next-of-kin consents. Completes required documentation, evaluates tissue, obtains blood samples from donors and processes tissue, sterilizes equipment and performs physical assessment of donors prior to surgical procedures.

Associates Degree in health related discipline (or commensurate experience) Must be willing to work in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities. Must be willing to work with human cadavers. Ability to work within a Sheriff’s Office setting. Must be willing to undergo and pass extensive background check by the Orange County Sheriff’s Department. Excellent interpersonal skills to relate easily and effectively with people within and outside the University, including ability to speak with next-of-kin in acute grief situations. Demonstrated knowledge of standard laboratory practice. Demonstrated experience working with human cadavers. Demonstrated ability to dissect human tissue. Demonstrated ability to draw cadaver blood. Demonstrated knowledge of maintaining confidential personal health information. Strong ability to multi-task, prioritize and follow up. Skill to use a personal computer, computer software programs at the level of sophistication required for general office work. Knowledge of Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Proficient writing skills to prepare/compose/review a variety of materials with accuracy and completeness. Familiarity with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA) to ensure confidentiality, privacy and security of patient information. Current California driver's license.
 
Preferred:
 
Demonstrated knowledge of human neuroanatomy. Knowledge of tissue banking.
