Position Summary:
 
The UC Irvine Student Health Center is a comprehensive outpatient clinic staffed with licensed primary care physicians, psychiatrists, licensed clinical social workers, dentists, physician assistants, registered nurse practitioners, and registered nurses. Medical specialists from various disciplines including dermatology, orthopedics/sports medicine, gynecology, internal medicine, and ENT provide on-site consultation on a regular basis. Student Health also offers basic radiology and clinical laboratory services, insurance consultation, and an on-site pharmacy, making SHC a comprehensive and convenient clinic dedicated to serving students.
 
Uses professional HR concepts as a seasoned, experienced professional to apply organization policies and procedures to resolve the full range of HR-related issues. Works on problems that are diverse and complex in scope, where analysis of situations require a review of a variety of factors. Normally receives little instruction on day-to-day assignments with some guidance provided on new projects.

Five to seven years of relevant experience with a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience. Minimum five years of direct Human Resources experience.
Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
Possesses strong analytical skills to conduct analysis and develop recommendations, demonstrating organization and problem-solving skills.
Thorough knowledge of organizational policies and procedures, knowledge of functional area and understands how work may affect other areas.
Thorough knowledge of human resources concepts, policies and procedures, employment practices, labor relations, salary administration, training and other areas of human resources. Knowledge of a human resources management system (HRMS), and / or other related business software programs and systems. Skilled in communicating clearly and effectively verbally and in writing. Demonstrated ability to handle very difficult or volatile situations / individuals effectively. Demonstrated analytical, active listening, and critical thinking skills. Working knowledge and experience interpreting, analyzing and applying payroll, personnel, affirmative action policy and procedures and collective bargaining agreements. Strong conflict resolution and performance management skills. Must be highly organized and detail oriented, resourceful and possess exceptional level of tact and diplomacy. Ability to handle projects independently, with absolute confidentiality and sensitivity to campus policies and general knowledge of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA). Skill to independently investigate issues and to compile report and project materials. Proven skills in establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with departmental staff and management and all levels of the university community including staff in central departments such as Human Resources and Payroll. Demonstrated ability to prioritize assignments to accommodate varied workload deadlines and competing requests.
 
Preferred:
 
Comprehensive knowledge of UC Staff Personnel policies and procedures. General knowledge of UC Collective Bargaining Agreements.
 
Special Conditions Required:
 
This position’s schedule is M-F and during traditional work hours, weekends or nontraditional work hours may be required for special projects or busy times of the year, or when strict deadlines must be met. In case of extended hours, this position may be required to work those hours. Employment in this position is contingent upon successful completion of a Department of Justice (DOJ) Live Scan background check, verification and continued monitoring of licensure as it applies to the position, and successful completion of our background review or credentialing process, as appropriate to the position. Per the UC Ethics Briefing, the employee is responsible for reporting any and all potential conflicts of interest to their supervisor in a timely manner. The employee must comply with OSHA, CA/OSHA, and CDC recommendations and requirements regarding vaccination and testing of healthcare employees. This includes, but may not be limited to; current hepatitis B immunizations, annual flu vaccinations, and annual tuberculosis screening. At the discretion of Student Health Center, the employee may be offered an option to sign a declination acknowledgment in lieu of receiving an annual flu vaccination. The employee must comply with UC COVID-19 Vaccine Policy, by providing proof of Full Vaccination or submitting a request for Exception or Deferral.
