Position Summary:
 
The Merage School of Business at UCI is a top-ranked business school located in Orange County, California with a mission of developing leaders for a digitally driven world. The Data and Systems group at Merage is staffed by technology professionals who enable the digital infrastructure, business applications, and data flows at the Merage School. The group’s work scope includes development, administration, integration, and integrity/security of the business systems and data that support (almost) all activities at the School, including the student lifecycle from recruiting to placement. Our goal is to provide innovative processes and technologies in support of world-class business school operations. Data and Systems group is establishing a new organization, “Business Solutions”. This unit will support the delivery of the first element of the School’s new strategic plan, “Digital Transformation within the Merage School." The goals will be to streamline and potentially redesign operational processes.
 
Applies skills as a seasoned, experienced professional with a full understanding of industry-wide business process and analysis practices, business technology and applications, organizational policies and procedures. Resolves a wide range of business process and data issues of moderate to complex scope. Demonstrates good judgment in selecting methods and techniques to obtain solutions. Performs duties in a highly collaborative manner across functional areas.

5+ years of business analysis experience, preferably in an academic environment
Bachelor's degree in a STEM or business discipline
Thorough knowledge of business and process analysis functions. Thorough Knowledge of related areas of IT.
Strong skills and knowledge of methodologies associated with analysis of processes and problems, information flow and architecture.
Self-motivated and works independently and as part of a team. Able to learn effectively and meet deadlines. Demonstrates problem solving skills.
Thorough knowledge of business processes and procedures.
Demonstrated testing and test planning skills.
Demonstrated effective communication and interpersonal skills. Demonstrated ability to communicate technical information to technical and non-technical personnel at various levels in the organization. Interpersonal and communications skills to work with both technical and non-technical personnel at various levels in the organization. Skilled in the application of systems reporting tools and business intelligence including SQL and Power BI.
Effectively translates business requirements into technical specifications. Facilitate communications with technical groups to ensure those requirements are reliably implemented.
Ability to multitask and manage multiple projects forward simultaneously covering different business units or supporting different organizational objectives. Demonstrated ability to build trusting relationships with technical and business stakeholders.
 
Preferred:
 
Master’s degree in a STEM or business discipline is preferred
In-depth understanding and skill in process and systems requirement documentation standards, such as Use Case modeling, User Story creations and narrative description. Demonstrated ability to work with others from diverse backgrounds. Broad knowledge relating to software design and software development life cycles (SDLC). Familiarity with digital solutions in the academic operations setting including admissions, advising, career services, etc.
