Under the general direction of the Director the Assistant Director works closely with UCI Esports athletes, coaches, interns, and staff to ensure that scholarship players have all the resources needed to succeed at UCI. The incumbent is expected to provide administrative office support to the program, coordinate events, gather and distill information, track timelines and assess daily workflow, and action feedback. Has autonomy to analyze and resolve problems and determine appropriate action. Oversees esports programs, supervisors and coaches. Provides recommendations for the development of program budgets and typically, assists the Director in the implementation and monitoring of budget, inventory and other resources. Makes recommendations for policy changes.

Required:
 
At least 3 years of project management or event coordination experience.
Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
Esports Management Certificate
Red Cross CPR required. Standard First Aid Training Certification required.
Knowledge of program activity and industry best practices. Demonstrated leadership and interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively across the organization, internally and externally. Uses creative problem solving to deliver strong service orientation, program management, and sound judgment and decision-making; uses critical thinking skills to develop original ideas in a varied and challenging environment. Client service minded focus, entrepreneurial spirit and creative thinking skills. Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills. Proficiency in the use of basic computer applications relevant to job duties. Experience managing teams and understanding of conflict resolution principles. Demonstrated self-starter with a willingness to take initiative and be proactive. Experience with student professional development and providing mentorship. Knowledge of the collegiate esports landscape, culture, and community Strong organizational skills and project management, able to work efficiently under pressure and with demanding timelines.
 
Preferred:
 
Knowledge of campus policies and procedures. A strong personal network within the gaming and esports community.
 
Special Conditions Required:
 
Ability to successfully pass FBI and DOJ Criminal Check. Must be willing to work in the evenings and on weekends when practices and competitions are most likely to be scheduled. Typically, practices occur between 5pm-10pm PT on weekdays. Matches are typically in the afternoons on weekends.
