Position Summary:
 
Part of the Division of Undergraduate Education, the Office of Civic Engagement provides students with opportunities to engage as citizens and community members in a variety of curricular and co-curricular activities that enhance their education and professional development. The Office includes the Capital Internship Program (both the UCDC and UC Center Sacramento Internship Programs) and the Civic and Community Engagement minor.
 
Under the general direction of the Director of Civic Engagement and in consultation with the Associate Dean of the Division of Undergraduate Education, the Coordinator of the Civic Community and Engagement (CCE) Minor works with a high degree of independence and applies in-depth knowledge of the CCE Minor requirements to determine the courses to be taught by specific departments across campus toward the CCE minor degree. Takes into consideration the proper sequencing of courses for progression toward degree, courses taught in other departments, and other complicating factors. Makes recommendations for replacement courses. Work is reviewed by results achieved. The Coordinator is also responsible for managing student engagement and program outreach across campus. The position works with the CCE Faculty Board, teaching CCE Minor faculty, and various academic units to advise students through the process of obtaining the CCE Minor.

Required:
 
3-5 years relevant experience.
Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
Strong interpersonal skills to work with and gain trust from department senior management, faculty, and students. Ability to be flexible and patient and use tact and diplomacy. Proven ability in problem identification, reasoning, analysis to identify trends. Proven ability to find solutions to conflicting situations. Ability to maintain confidentiality and use discretion in handling sensitive matters. Political acumen and diplomacy to correspond positively and effectively with scholars from diverse world cultures, university officials and faculty, and external agencies amidst changing political climates. Experience with working and advising students in an academic environment. High level of energy, flexibility, and the ability to work independently, as well as part of a team. Skill to collect, assess, analyze, interpret, evaluate, and summarize data; experience in developing, tracking, and overseeing program budgets. Excellent organizational and administrative skills including an ability to conceptualize, organize, and direct major projects and programs. Ability to define problems, propose and implement course corrections, and set and re-prioritize often competing priorities. Communication, presentation and public speaking skills to represent the program and campus in public forums. Ability to organize and develop presentations geared towards a wide variety of constituents. Knowledge of website management and social media platforms and tools.
 
Preferred:
 
Thorough knowledge of common University-specific computer application programs. Thorough knowledge of department, organization, and University policies, procedures, and directives. Thorough knowledge of department and school / college general and major course and degree requirements.
Experience in a field relevant to civic and community engagement.
