Position Summary:
Incumbent functions independently to provide direct and indirect patient care based on the nursing process for a specific group of assigned patients. Provides education as needed to the patients/family related to cancer care, diagnostic procedures, medication/chemotherapy and other complex aspects of the plan of care. Incorporates the psycho-motor and age appropriate cognitive skills of the patient/family/significant other utilizing knowledge of patient assessment, planning, intervention and evaluation. Assures that the continuum of care process is complete to include: pre-procedure, chemotherapy protocols, hospitalization, anticipated discharge needs, and follow up in the physician offices. Supports the faculty in clinic for every patient care session.
Salary Range:
Annual Rate Minimum $118,159.92 Midpoint $137,056.32 Maximum $155,931.84
Required Qualifications:
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System
Current CA RN license
Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload
Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
All external candidates must have a Bachelor of Science in Nursing
Minimum 6 months experience working as a RN in an Oncology setting
Demonstrated practice with and knowledge of chemotherapy agents
Minimum 2 years of clinical experience
Basic Life Support certification required
Must possess the skill, knowledge and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned duties
Preferred Qualifications:
Bilingual skills to communicate effectively with patients and families
Demonstrated knowledge of immunosuppressive therapies and care of the post-transplant patient
Knowledge of University and medical center organizations, policies, procedures and forms
Oncology / BMT patient population knowledge
Oncology Nurse Certification
Knowledge of complications associated with hematological oncology conditions
