Position Summary:
The Donald Bren School of Information and Computer Sciences (ICS) offers 7 undergraduate majors, 5 minors, and 3 second baccalaureate programs. The ICS Office of Undergraduate Student Affairs is a high volume, fast paced environment with a strong team oriented group of professional and student academic advisors. Our team rises to the challenges and dynamics of working with a diverse, goal oriented undergraduate population who possess a strong desire to make the most of their undergraduate experience at ICS and UCI. Our advising team works with students pursuing an ICS major or minor, interested in changing to an ICS major, and with prospective applicants to the university. With us, you will get the opportunity to engage your student advising, project management, team supporting, analytical and active listening skills. Applies skills as a seasoned, experienced academic adviser. Provides advice to students on the full range of requirements for a department, college, or school with a wide variety of course requirements. Recommends solutions to progression and requirement issues. Advice may include not-clearly-defined programs such as independent study programs, interdisciplinary programs, or multiple programs. Advises faculty and management on a variety of student, course articulation, and programmatic issues. Works with the ICS Undergraduate Associate Dean and Office of Undergraduate Programs management to recommend changes to policies, practices, and procedures. Manages course articulation and new student orientation processes; advises advising team and campus advising offices on these processes as needed. Works independently under general supervision.
 
Compensation Range:
$49,000.00 - $60,250.00

Required:
3-5 years in academic advising and student affairs. Knowledge of UCI and California Community College articulation process. Ability to manage large scale projects with general supervision. Ability to identify problems, implement solutions and assess outcome(s). Make recommendations to Director and Senior Undergraduate Counselor on student cases and programs.
Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
 
Thorough knowledge of advising and counseling techniques. Knowledge of multiple majors, colleges, and schools. Skills in judgment and decision-making, problem solving. Thorough knowledge of college / school policies, procedures, and requirements. Ability to multi-task. Abilities in problem identification, reasoning, ability to develop original ideas to solve problems. Thorough knowledge of campus and school articulation process and policies
