Students, as well as campus and community partners, are invited to share a platform from which to address the root causes of ecological disruption, deepen understandings of the interdependence of all life, and engage the challenges and solutions of sustainability in a campus, community, and global context. SRC is anchored by a physical Resource Center offering a host of student services. Students come into SRC via internship/fellowship placements, student staff employment, and the programming pathways: Training, Campus as a Living Laboratory, and Global Engagement and Immersion. SRC relies on a host of campus partners within Student Affairs, Academic Affairs, the Office of Sustainability, and student-led organizations to do our work. A key partner, Student Housing, extends SRC programming explicitly into the student residential experience. SRC is housed under the Student Life & Leadership which hosts various resource and identity center spaces and provide programs that support the intellectual, personal, social and professional development of all students. The SRC enjoys a working partnership with the Student Housing Sustainability Program and staff who are co-located at the SRC. SRC Programming Pathways: Training Pathway current programs include: The Student Institute for Sustainability Leadership (SISL), EarthReps, and the University of California System-wide Carbon Neutrality/Global Food Initiatives Fellows Training. Campus as a Living Lab Pathway current programs include: The Garden Project, the Campus as a Living Lab Internship, Social Ecology and other independent study intern placements, and on-campus residential sustainability theme houses. Global Engagement and Immersion Pathway current programs include: The Costa Rica Program and the Community Resilience Co-Lab.
 
Student Services professionals in specialized student life and development programs, and resolves the most complex cases / situations; and / or has programmatic responsibility for a discreet complex Student Life & Development function or content area. Under the supervision of the Associate Dean of Students for the Office of Student Life DocuSign Envelope ID: 3295D9FD-CCB0-41EA-A2F0-F5532FAD6772 and Leadership, the Director of the Sustainability Resource Center is responsible for initiating, assessing, planning, and delivering ongoing innovative programming, resources, and services that serve the campus and community. The Director designs and implements of an outreach and engagement strategy to enhance student awareness of and leadership in sustainability initiatives at UC Irvine, work with various departments in academics and research, facilities, housing, food services, student government, and UC system-wide workgroups. The Director works to increase a shared analysis of the intersections among environmental, racial, and social injustice by partnering closely with campus resource centers and services and serving as the convener of campus-wide sustainability efforts focused on student leadership opportunities. The Director works closely with student leaders, faculty, staff, and community partner colleagues in delivering the highest quality co-curricular experience.

Required:
 
Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
Skills in judgment and decision-making, problem solving, identifying measures of system performance and the actions to improve performance. Advanced abilities in project management, problem identification and reasoning skills.
Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of community resilience to a changing climate.
Theoretical and practical knowledge of contemporary and historical issues as it relates to sustainability and community resilience.
Demonstrated ability to design and deliver support services and programs to enhance sustainability efforts within a higher education environment.
Ability to provide support, advocacy, crisis intervention and appropriate referral information using discretion, confidentiality, and understanding of campus policy.
Ability to effectively handle and complete several ongoing projects in a work environment characterized by frequent interruptions.
Effective communication skills (written and oral) to interact with a variety of staff, faculty, student and off-campus agencies and community partners in a daily work environment.
Experience in supervising professional staff.
Experience in recruitment, training, supervision and evaluation of student staff and volunteers.
Advanced ability to develop original ideas to solve problems.
Demonstrated commitment to promoting, enhancing and affirming a sustainability-based approach across a broad spectrum of identities and their multi-varied and multilayered intersections.
Advanced knowledge of advising and counseling techniques.
 
Preferred:
 
Master's degree preferred.
Advanced knowledge of common University-specific computer application programs and knowledge of University policies and departmental principles and procedures involved in risk assessment and evaluating risks as to likelihood and consequences. Advanced knowledge of Student Affairs / Student Life specialization.
