Position Summary:
The HR enterprise is comprised of three unique business units: Health, Health Sciences, and main campus. The Senior HR Business Partner (SrHRBP) in UCI Health Sciences provides strategic advisement and consultation to assigned clients, leveraging and integrating knowledge of modern professional HR practice, the regulatory environment, and labor and employment law. The SrHRBP is the first point of contact for the client, working to identify and establish HR solutions with clients while appropriately utilizing the resources of subject matter experts within the department. Recognized functional expert who regularly leads human resources projects of criticality to organization. The SrHRBP utilizes comprehensive and in-depth human resources expertise to provide guidance and recommendations regarding strategic direction to the organization and its leaders. Works on human resources matters that are the most diverse and complex in scope where analysis of data and situations requires evaluation of many factors and implications with broad impact on the organization. Determines methods and procedures on new assignments and functions as a lead with other human resources professionals. Is considered a subject matter expert in the organization.

Minimum 7 years of progressively responsible experience in Human Resources
Bachelor's degree in related area to Human Resources and / or equivalent experience / training.
Possesses expert analytical skills to provide strategic direction for HR practices and procedures, conduct analysis and develop recommendations, demonstrating organization and problem-solving skills.
Demonstrated expert knowledge of organizational policies and procedures; advanced knowledge of functional area and understands how work affects other areas in Human Resources and the organization.
Expert knowledge of employment practices, labor relations, salary administration, training and other areas of human resources as well as organization initiatives relating to and / or affecting human resources.
Highly developed interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills to present complex information.
Demonstrated ability to handle the most difficult or volatile situations / individuals effectively.
Highly developed analytical, active listening and critical thinking skills. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across Health Affairs.
Demonstrated ability to establish credibility, trust and influence with senior leaders.
Computer literacy, to include experience with HRIS enterprise systems.
Demonstrated experience in group presentation and facilitation.
Preferred:
Strategic HR Business Partner (sHRBP) Certification preferred.
SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP Certification preferred.
PHR or SPHR Certification preferred.
Previous experience working with labor unions.
Experience working in a complex organization, preferably an academic health organization.
Experience in at least one HR specialty function such as Labor Relations, Employee Relations, Learning, Recruitment, etc.
Special Conditions Required:
This position may be required to report at different work sites between the campus in Irvine and medical center in Orange.
The incumbent must be able to provide their own means of transportation to/from work locations.
