Position Summary:

Consider a career in the Office of Academic Personnel, UCI’s academic HR unit providing excellent service to our academic employee population. As part of the Provost’s Office team, we create policy and resources that enable our faculty to focus on their innovative research, teaching and service responsibilities. A key element of UCI’s strategic plan is to increase our research and teaching capacity to improve lives by adding an additional 250 faculty over the next several years. The Office of Academic Personnel is critical to the UCI’s success in achieving its goal to achieve Growth That Makes A Difference.
 
Uses advanced skills and knowledge of UC system wide and / or organization academic HR policies and programs to address strategic academic personnel issues and to resolve complex issues and situations. Provides guidance, training, and direction to other academic HR or affiliated unit staff members.
 
Compensation Range:
 
$66,300 - $80,340

Required:
 
Experience reviewing and interpreting University and campus Academic Personnel policies. Experience and working within the academic and administrative structure of institutions of higher education.
Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
Demonstrated success in providing good customer service to a variety of audiences where customer service adds value to the office and builds enduring relationships.
 
Preferred:
 
Requires thorough knowledge of and ability to apply / interpret organization and college policies and procedures which govern academic HR. Thorough knowledge of organization and college goals, priorities and values and the legal and human implications of decisions. Knowledge of trends in academia, especially in areas of academic planning, human resource management and administration. Excellent critical and innovative thinking to address moderately complex issues and present nuanced analyses. Ability to analyze complex management issues, develop project scope and solutions, give professional advice to senior officials, and make critical decisions regarding personnel. Ability to communicate effectively with diverse audiences. Thorough knowledge of systemwide and organization policies, union contracts, procedures and practices that govern academic HR administration.
