Position Summary:
Under general supervision, incumbent will be responsible for performing cell culture of human embryonic stem cell lines and differentiating to neuronal lineages under GMP-like conditions. This also entails performing quality control including immunofluorescence staining and imaging, genetic analysis and sending samples for karyotype. In addition, will assist in culturing and differentiating induced pluripotent stem cells including generation of organoids. Other duties include, assisting with purchasing, receiving, distribution and inventory of some supplies and equipment for the laboratory. Position will require providing support to graduate students, postdocs and technicians in the use of equipment and laboratory procedures, as well as designing and carrying out immunofluorescence and immunohistochemistry on cell culture and mouse tissue. Individual will perform molecular biology techniques including but not limited to PCR, agarose and acrylamide gel electrophoresis of proteins and DNA, preparing and maintaining stocks of plasmid DNA, molecular cloning, Western and qPCRs and other protocols as required as general support for lab projects. Individual will be trained to assist with mouse breeding and animal preclinical behavioral and molecular studies, stereotaxic transplantations of cells or virus into mice, as well as surgeries, dosing, euthanasia, and tissue collection.
