Position Summary:
 
The Economics department in the School of Social Sciences at UC Irvine seeks a highly motivated, self-starter to provide assistance to the MSO, Chair, faculty, students, departmental cluster, programs and initiatives. As a member of the School of Social Sciences, the incumbent is tasked with upholding and exemplifying excellence in the University’s core competencies-- job mastery, goal accomplishment, enterprise contribution and innovation-- while representing the MSO, Chair and Department to the campus. The Economics Department is comprised of 31 senate faculty, 10 non-senate lecturers, 1,890 undergraduate students (second largest group of majors on campus behind Bio Sci) and 95 PhD students (approximately 58 Teaching Assistants per quarter). As Analyst of this highly productive and multidisciplinary department, responsibilities include financial administration, contract and grant proposal preparation and submission, employment and salary administration, space and facilities management, undergraduate program assistance, back up support for graduate student management and recruitment and customer service pertaining to daily administrative operations for faculty, staff and students in the Department of Economics.
 
Compensation Range:
 
$27.45 - $31.42

Required:
 
1-3 years of applicable experience working for an organization.
Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
Solid communication and interpersonal skills to communicate effectively and diplomatically with all levels of staff verbally and in writing. Solid organizational skills and ability to multi-task with demanding timeframes. Ability to use sound judgment in responding to issues and concerns. Working knowledge of common organization-specific and other computer application programs. Ability to use discretion and maintain confidentiality. Experience analyzing and organizing complex information and the proven ability to produce clear, comprehensive and complete reports based on that analysis. Skills in service orientation, organization, active listening, and critical thinking.
