Position Summary: 
The incumbent manages a team that provides the comprehensive Business Intelligence and Analytics (BIA) services for the UCI Medical Center and School of Medicine. The team is responsible for the development, maintenance, and delivery of health data for research, clinical, and operational purposes.  The incumbent will champion and govern enterprise data architecture standards, tools, best practices and development methodologies as well as provide proactive technical oversight. Mentor BIA developers and analysts fostering re-use, design for scale, performance, stability, and operational efficiency. Deliver solutions in the following areas: analysis, design & implementation of logical data models; physical database objects; data conversion, integration, and loading processes (ETL); query and reporting functions; data management, visualization and governance; and data quality assurance processes.
This position will be largely focused on the delivery of health data for research purposes.  The incumbent should be familiar with health research processes, OnCore, RedCap, IRB procedures, de-identification procedures for datasets, as well as a wide variety of health data such as clinical data, imaging, genomics, social determinant of health, tumor registries, and other domains of health data.
 
 
Salary Range:
 
Annual Rate  Minimum  $93,700.00                           Midpoint               $152,500.00                         Maximum             $211,300.00
 
Required Qualifications:
 Ability to translate business questions and requirements into reports, templates and analytical views
Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload
Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job
Experience in an academic medical center environment
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
Strong healthcare informatics knowledge, especially in the area of data management, including data warehouse development and implementation, data integration (ETL), and meta-data management
2+ years of experience managing a team responsible for developing and implementing BI, analytics and data warehousing solutions in a healthcare environment
BA in Biomedical Informatics, Computer Science or related field
Ability to manage multiple medium to large projects simultaneously
5+ years of experience using industry standard business intelligence software such as SQL, Crystal Reports, SSRS, Tableau, etc.
Must possess the skill, knowledge and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned duties
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and to analyze and interpret data in order to draw valid conclusions for complex business issues
 
 
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience using MS Reporting Services (MSRS) and knowledge of SQL Server Reporting Services
Data Warehouse development experience
Masters in Biomedical Informatics, Computer Science or related field
Experience using ServiceNow to manage team workload
Knowledge of healthcare and academic industry
