Position Summary:
 
UCI MIND is an Organized Research Unit focusing on basic and clinical research in the fields of brain aging and cognitive disorders. Our mission is to discover means to improve the lives of people with Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia. UCI MIND is committed to community education with the goals of keeping the community informed of our progress, sharing learnings that can help community members reduce their risk for dementia.
 
Under the direction of Dr. Joshua Grill in the Institute for Memory Impairments and Neurological Disorders (UCI MIND), the staff research associate (SRA) will assist in the conduct of several research studies related to the science of recruitment and the science of disclosure.  The mission of the Grill Lab is to 1) improve Alzheimer's disease (AD) clinical trial design, 2) elucidate barriers to AD clinical trial enrollment, 3) better understand AD trial participant retention strategies, and 4) investigate the ethical challenges to AD trials and clinical care. The SRA will be responsible for conducting in-person (both at the research center and at participants’ homes) and remote research interviews with participants from varied cultural backgrounds. They will be asked to collect, translate, transcribe and enter data. The SRA will help organize community and university events to promote all studies under UCI MIND and give talks and participate in various outreach events. They will assist in the recruitment and enrollment of participants to various research projects.
 
Compensation Range:
 
$24.05 - $28.70/hr.

Required:
 
Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in neuroscience, biology, psychology, or another related field. 
Fluency in English and Spanish. 
Highly motivated and service-oriented with strong interpersonal and communication skills; able to communicate clearly and tactfully with a broad variety of people both verbally and in writing. Skill in maintaining a well-organized and professional workplace Ability to manage multiple projects in different stages of development at the same time. Skill to operate Macintosh and PC platform, and skill to use Word, Excel, Access and Adobe Acrobat. Proven ability to function effectively as a team member and follow detailed directions.
 
Preferred:
 
Experience in REDCap and CanvaPro Experience working in human research and interview based observational studies. Experience operating video conferencing and social media platforms Ability to speak publicly to large audiences about brain health and neurodegenerative diseases.
 
Special Conditions Required:
 
Occasional irregular hours required for outreach events or research activities.
Ability to speak, read and write in Spanish.  
 
Special Conditions Preferred:
 
Valid driver’s license and ability to travel by car to various locations around OC county.
