Under the general direction of the Director of Administration and Strategy, Health Advancement, the Assistant Director of Development engages in $500,000 of annual fundraising at both the annual giving and major gift level, provides project management, and may provide limited administrative support. The scope of responsibilities include qualification, cultivation, and solicitation, of new and existing donors, donor engagement, meeting metrics, development and coordination of fundraising and community engagement programs, development of collateral material, presentations, newsletters, stewardship, and coordination of internal and external leadership meetings. The incumbent performs coordination of complex duties that engages with confidential and sensitive information of a broad scope related to donor relations, annual and major gift fundraising, and public relations. Incumbent is a motivated individual willing to partner with development officers, clinicians and faculty in priority areas of identified school or unit to create opportunities for patients, friends, alumni and corporations to express their gratitude for excellent patient care, research and education.

Required:
 
Two to three years of experience in a development setting. • Experience in independently planning all aspects of special events including developing and managing a budget. • Experience with marketing tools: data visualization, image and design tools, social media, and productivity management.
Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
Must possess a valid California driver license and participate in the DMV Pull Notice Program.
Proven ability to use MS Office programs, donor management databases, and familiarity with the Internet to conduct searches. Working knowledge of applicable laws, rules, regulations, policies, etc. Good organizational, analytical and critical thinking skills. Ability to distinguish differences between types of gifts and the giving minimums associated with the various types (annual gift, multi-year commitment, endowed scholarships, endowed chair, planned gift, corporate and foundation relations, etc.) Working knowledge of fundraising, donor relations, and public relations concepts, principles, procedures, and techniques. Demonstrate a foundation of knowledge regarding the fundraising cycle stages/processes as defined by University Advancement and UCI Good written and interpersonal communication skills to establish and maintain good working relationships throughout the organization and with outside constituencies. Skills in maintaining confidentiality. Working knowledge of the location, its vision, mission, goals, objectives, achievements and infrastructure.
 
Preferred:
 
Knowledge of UCI policies and accounting forms such as invoices, travel vouchers, purchase orders, and check requests. Working knowledge of Salesforce. Skill to develop reports, proposals and external relations materials.
