Position Summary:

Reporting to the School of Medicine Controller, the incumbent utilizes a high degree of initiative, resourcefulness, and problem solving in the development of School of Medicine finance and accounting guidelines and procedures. Develops instructional, training, and presentation materials to convey guidelines and procedures to School of Medicine staff. Incumbent demonstrates subject matter expertise in UC Irvine, College of Health Sciences, and School of Medicine finances and systems to perform a broad range of tasks requiring a combination of special subject knowledge and general knowledge of process and policy development and training tools to complete assignments. Incumbent provides specialized expertise in the area of accounting, purchasing, employee reimbursement policies and procedures. Incumbent develops materials and maintains these resources on a web-based (or other determined) platform. This position will provide training and support across SOM units and will perform analysis to measure and improve operational effectiveness in assigned area(s).

$59,200 - $86,700

5-7 years of related experience. Will accept 3-5 years in finance position and 2 years in procedure analyst and training development position.
BA/BS degree from an accredited college/university in a related discipline such as financial and business process management, business or public administration, communications, psychology, behavior science, computer science/information technology, etc., or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Understand, use, and explain computer applications and financial information systems to train and problem-solve for others. Skill in creating process and training materials in, Word, PowerPoint, Adobe Captivate, etc. Skill to understand complex issues, analyze the issues, and transform into understandable procedure-based information. Demonstrated skill to organize tasks, prioritize, and complete assignments when faced with heavy and diversified workload, deadlines, and demanding requests for service in an environment of frequent interruptions and/or distractions. Ability to work effectively with various levels of staff and establish and maintain cooperative working relationships at all levels of employees within and outside of the SOM. Experience working in a complex administrative environment. Knowledge of training, procedure development and/or media production used to train staff in one-on-one situations and in a classroom setting. Ability to exercise sufficient mental stamina to engage in sensitive and moderately complex work. Excellent skill in English language to compose training materials, reports, policies and procedures, and to conduct oral presentations. Knowledge of business process development and analyses related to financial policies and procedures, and be able to develop corresponding documentation, such as flow charts, gap/fit analyses, etc. Knowledge of techniques for gathering, compiling, analyzing and presenting information verbally and in writing.
 
Preferred:
 
Experience with University of California or University of California, Irvine administrative policies and procedures. Experience with Tableau, Cognos, ERP systems, and other systems such as SharePoint. Experience with the Kuali Financial System accounting, budgeting, travel and entertainment and purchasing modules.
 
Special Conditions Required:
 
Access to a University approved means of transportation to travel to and from the Irvine and Orange locations and/or other UCI offices as required.
